Hi Sebastian,
I am in the market to buy diamond solitaire for my wife. We are married for last 21 years. I myself is not bad about “buying a diamond process” in terms of 4C context (and all the underlying math formulas of proportions, physics of dispersion/diffusion and light refractive index correlated to diamond.
I need your help based on following:
1) thinking about buying 0.7 to 0.9 Carat (preferably 0.75 to 0.85 CT)
2) Color is thinking about D (perhaps E)
3) clarity is between VVS2 to FL
4) *Needless to say SuperIdeal cut (from your website like James Allan, Brian Gavin, Whiteflash, Eightstar or HOF etc.
5) I am also looking platinum tiffany 4 prong simple classic but elegant design ring with just one central stone. With ring and stone .. budget could be anywhere between $5,000 to $8,000. Also few questions:
1) Should I go for 1 CT ring like D color .. super ideal but vvs2/Vs1? OR
2) go for 0.75 CT .. D color and IF/FL super ideal * as diameter diff between 0.75 to 1 CTÂ (is 5.75 mm to 6.4 mm)
..my wife has small hand .. with size 4 ring size. so even the 0.75 CT might look big as background contrast. I am curious to know your thoughts and help in this purchasing process. May be since you are in the industry … you can ask someone from direct source for the stone and get the ring done etc. there is no timeline but would prefer earlier than delaying later.

Thank you for your inquiry. I am happy to help! And congratulations on 21 years of marriage!
May I ask why you are considering such a high clarity and color grade? And what size diamond does your wife have now? |

Hey Sebastian,
Perhaps our timing did not match (and certainly Thanksgiving week caused the delay). However after doing and R&D and thanks to your website. I decided to buy and finally bought BGD Black.
I gave BGD premium over James Allan, White flash etc. perhaps it’s brand than actual stone quality. Here is the link to the stone details. Please feel free to share your feedback.
Bought Stone:
0.803 F VS1 BLACK BY BRIAN GAVIN ROUND WITH HEARTS AND ARROWS
also there was another stone .. but it got reserved .. hence I ended up finalizing this .. but perhaps other stone would have been my first preference on mathematical ground ….
0.782 F VS1 BLACK BY BRIAN GAVIN ROUND WITH HEARTS AND ARROWS

You made a great choice. That is a beautiful diamond with excellent angles/ proportions. Well done! |

Just out of curiosity if the other stone became available (0.782 F VS1) should i try that from current ( 0.8 F VS1).
Money is the consideration .. two factors for the other stone.
1) its table is 56.5 ( between 53-57 range ).
2) its clarity inclusion on side as compare to first which in middle multiple spots.
Just ur opinion or both are equal if budget is not primary consideration.
Plz excuse brevity and spell mistakes as sent from my iPhone …

Hello,
If I placed both diamonds in front if you, in person, you would not be able to tell them apart. They are equal. 🙂 |

Hey Sebastian,
Need your help. as mentioned earlier the other 0.782 F VS1 diamond became available ( I bought 0.8 F VS1). It’s not about money (as trying to save money but perhaps obsession about close to TABLOSKY CUT PROPORTIONS and iNCLUSION GOES AWAY FROM TABLE TO SIDE IN VS1 CLARITY)
Which one you recommend from your perspective? IS FEATHER BAD ON SIDE FROM STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY reason for 0.78 stone 0.78 F VS1 –> Option 1 –
or 0.8 F VS1 –> Option 2 –
Appreciate your answer or any perspective please.

You are not going to want to hear this, but you could close your eyes and blindly pick one of the two and you will be happy with the diamond.
Both these diamonds are practically identical. If it were me, I would pick the less expensive one, since that is the only thing that is noticeably different. You do not need to be the least bit concerned about the inclusions. 🙂 |

Thx Sir .. I am sticking with 0.8 stone as selected.
