Diamond Query: Choosing the Best Blue Nile 1.5-Carat Oval Cut Diamond

| Anonymous Reader

Hi, hope you are doing well. I appreciate the work you do and hoping you can help me with my diamond purchase. I will appreciate if you can provide your honest opinion of each of the following three BN diamonds:

1. LD07345476

1.50-Carat Oval Diamond

2. LD10020309

1.54-Carat Oval Diamond

3. LD10138521 (picture and video attached)

Blue Nile LD10138521

I will greatly appreciate your help! Please see my specs below:

  1. $10-12K budget for an oval rock
  2. Clean looking to naked eyes
  3. G or higher color, with faint or no fluorescence. Basically, a bright, scintillating rock.
  4. Devoid of discernable or ugly bow-tie
  5. 1.5-1.7 carat

Best wishes!

Thank you for your inquiry. I am happy to help. Please see my comments below:

Both of the below diamonds have table and depth which are outside of the recommended range. Please see the link to my website for oval shaped diamonds;

https://yourdiamondteacher.com/diamond-shapes-cuts/oval-cut/

The bowtie effect for both is minimal. The ratio of each diamond is aesthetically pleasing. If I were to pick, I would choose the F color. The table is smaller and the girdle thickness is slightly better.

Hi Sebastian, i found your advice best so far and truly appreciate your help. I have narrowed my list down to the following three diamonds, hoping to buy one of these three.

Would you be able to compare these for me please. All are similar in most aspects even in that they all are, unfortunately, outside your recommended range for Depth and table.

1. LD07345476

1.50-Carat Oval Diamond

This is nice looking diamond. It does have GIA report from June 2016, which concerns me a little.

2. LD10064893

1.40-Carat Oval Diamond

This one is nice looking diamond with GIA report from April 2018. Looking at it felt like it has slightly weird shape that it is stocky at the center and pointy (relative to other ovals). Also this is .1 carat less than the other two.

3. LD00076744

1.50 Carat Oval Cut Diamond

Similar looking diamond with July 2017 GIA report, most expensive of the three. Its griddle may be little less ideal than the other two. Thanks much in advance!

Nice to hear from you, again!

Putting aside the “suggested proportions/angles”, the three diamonds you selected from Blue Nile are all really aesthetically pretty oval diamonds. You could easily pick any of them and be happy. And if you are leaning more towards one, then you should go with your gut.

If I were to choose I would choose the following, simply because it is the largest in the millimeter measurements.

LD07345476

1.50-Carat Oval Diamond

I hope this helps!
