Hi Sebastian.
I’m looking for an engagement ring. She is Chinese and ring size is 7. Looking for diamond 0.7 carat and above. Colour preferably D to G. Excellent cut. Clarity VS1 and above. Not sure 0.7 carat will look too small on her hand.
My budget is just usd3500 for the diamond. Will spend another usd500 on the setting. Aiming for a six prong. Choosing between platinum and white gold. What’s your view? Saw this IF diamond.
Any good? Thanks a lot!

Thank you for your inquiry. I am happy to help. The diamond you selected from James Allen is an excellent selection. Well done!
Regarding the metal type, I would always recommend platinum. It is hypoallergenic and it is a naturally white metal. White gold is only white because it has a rhodium plating, which can wear off over time and requires replating. Also, white gold has nickel, which can cause an allergic reaction on the skin. |

Hi Sebastian,
Thanks for the advice. Agreed with you on the metal option. Will go for platinum as my wife to be is allergic to certain metal. May need to downgrade the diamond in order to meet my budget.
Is this piece ok? Thank you!

The diamond is an excellent selection. If you would like more affordable options, you may want to consider looking at diamonds with a VS2 to VVS1 clarity grade. 🙂 |
