Hi Sebastian,
Firstly I would just like to thank you for providing invaluable information on your website, its the most informative site on the internet by far.
I have selected the diamond below and was wondering whether you can reassure me that I have followed all the tips you mention on your site, I’m looking for immense sparkle from the stone.
Firstly on the report there is a slight feather that is highlighted on the edge of the stone, would this be visible to the human eye without magnification and also would a ‘J’ in colour be suitable for a platinum setting and then just your thoughts on the performance of the stone please.
1.27 CARAT J-VS2 EXCELLENT CUT ROUND DIAMOND SKU-5964519
I look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks!

Thank you for your inquiry. I am happy to help. And I am glad to hear that the information on my website has been so helpful! The diamond is eye-clean and the feather will not be seen. The diamond’s proportions/ angles are excellent.
As for the color, this is a very warm J color. It is warmer than other J color diamonds. Is the platinum ring setting from James Allen? A platinum setting will make a warm color diamond appear even warmer. |

Thanks for the prompt response. The setting is from James Allen, its the 1.5mm comfort setting. When you say warm is that a bad thing?

Most people look for a diamond that is as white as they can afford. Meaning they want the diamond to have as little yellow/ brown tint as possible. A diamond with more yellow/ brownish tint is considered a “warmer” color. |

Hi Sebastian,
I found this diamond and would like your opinion on it, I have come down in carat weight because James Allen said they can only mount up to 1.1 ct in the 1.5mm setting I like.
Can you please tell me if this stone is eye clean and does it meet all the criteria for it to shine bright like a diamond! I look forward to hearing from you!

The diamond from James Allen is perfect. It is eye-clean. It is a high “I” color, which means it is closer to an H color than a J color.
The crown and pavilion angles are perfect. And these are two important angles for the best light reflection. I would snatch this one up! |

Thank you for verifying the stone for me, I’m just a little bothered by the inclusion on the table, would that not be noticed by the naked eye? Thank you!
Your Diamond Teacher |
You do not need to be the least bit concerned about the inclusion on the table being visible. 🙂 |
