Hi Sebastian,
My fiancé and I got engaged in August and are still looking for a round hearts and arrows diamond with great sparkle and light, so we would appreciate your help and guidance!
We are planning on setting the stone in a 14 karat or 18 karat rose gold solitaire band, so it seems we can go as low as a J or K diamond.
Our biggest priority is having a super ideal cut that shines and looks great. We would prefer a 1.2 – 1.5 carat stone. Our budget for a diamond is under $9000, preferably lower. Can you please advise us which of the following choices you prefer?
Or do you have any recommendations? Thank you!

Thank you for your inquiry. I am happy to help. And congratulations on your engagement!
All the diamonds you selected are great. I have, however, narrowed them down to the following:
I ruled out ones that had strong fluorescence. Since this can make a diamond appear hazy. I also ruled out diamonds that were much higher in price with no value received. Both of these diamonds will have the sparkle you want a diamond to have. It just comes down to price and carat weight. |

Hi Sebastian,
Thank you so much!!! Your advice is so incredibly helpful! The process of finding an ideal diamond has been very daunting. Do you have a preference for:
We’re leaning towards the James Allen K 1.50 carat, but the table is 59.7%, so I was worried about if that would impact cut quality and shine?
The other question is setting style. We are going to add the rings below from Karen Karch in 14 or 18 carat rose gold. Please see the attached photos. We would like to find a setting for the diamond that best compliments the other two rings.
What engagement ring setting would you recommend? The setting for the diamond does not need to have 2 side stones as shown in the photos or have the same diamond-studded claw prongs. We just want something that is complimentary.
The settings we’re considering are below, but we would appreciate suggestions:

You do not need to worry in the least about the 59% table on the JA diamond. It will not reduce the diamonds sparkle. The diamond has perfect crown and pavilion angles, which are the most crucial to optimal light reflection.
As far as selecting the ring to compliment the Karen Karch rings, that is a matter of personal taste/preference. My feeling is, the engagement ring setting should not have diamonds on the ring shank. The diamonds in the Karen Karch ring are bezel set, so I am of the opinion that the center ring should either have bezel set diamonds or no diamonds at all. I hope this helps! |

Hi Sebastian,
Thank you so much for your advice! We’re so grateful for your help since finding a diamond and a setting has been extremely challenging!
I agree with you that anything other than bezel set diamonds on the ring shank will look odd, so we’ll go with a simple solitaire setting without diamonds.
We’re going to put in an order with either Whiteflash or James Allen tonight, so lastly, do you have a preference for either of the two diamonds you picked out?

You are very welcome. It is really a matter of personal preference. If, however, you twisted my arm to make a decision between the two diamonds, I would choose the James Allen diamond.
